MEAL

Monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) for mine action, conventional weapons destruction and civilian protection programs. I work for donors who need an independent view of what is happening on the ground, and for organizations that want to make sure they are delivering the project as agreed and achieving the expected results.

SERVICES

What I can help with

Third-party monitoring

Independent monitoring on behalf of a donor, or for an organization that wants an external check. Field visits to see whether activities, results and spending match what was agreed and reported.

Remote monitoring

Desk review of reports, data and supporting evidence, when field access is limited or a lighter approach is enough.

Mid-term and final evaluations

Evaluations of projects and programs: what worked, what didn't and why, with practical recommendations for the rest of the project or the next phase.

Donor reporting

Turning program data into reports that show what was achieved, in the format and level of detail the donor requires.

Why sector experience matters

I have worked in mine action and civilian protection for more than 25 years, in field, country and headquarters roles. I know how these programs run on the ground, which makes it easier to see what the numbers mean and what to look for during a visit.

I also know what donors expect from monitoring and reporting, because I have been on the other side, preparing and defending those reports.

How it works

1. Scope and cost

We agree on the questions to answer, the scope and the methods. The cost is based on the number of days needed, including preparation and reporting.

2. Data collection

Document review, interviews and field visits, on site or remotely.

3. Report

Clear findings and recommendations, discussed with you before the report is final.
